City of Maricopa Subdivision Code Update, AZ

Project Description: Jessica was the project manager for this code update for the City and worked with the City Project Manager throughout the process.  This project was an all-encompassing update of the Subdivision Code as well as an update to the City Zoning Code and a coordination with an update to the Engineering Design Guidelines. The City of Maricopa upon incorporation in 2003, adopted several codes from Pinal County that were adopted without modification to better fir the growing city or updates to current development standards. Since then Pinal County has updated their own codes and standards while the City of Maricopa was often still using the old codes.

The Project Team worked with city staff, a steering committee, stakeholders and the public to provide an update to the Subdivision Code to come in line with today’s standards and future design opportunities. With this came the need to also provide Zoning Code updates and definition updates and additions to ensure that the codes and policies of the City worked together and not against each other.
